Last year we added 3 - Marisol, Nellie and #23. #23 was for Christmas, Marisol was with Christmas money from Grandma and she plays Maisie #23s sister in our house since they came at the same time. Nellie came for Easter courtesy of the combined club code and the DVD code. Who could resist $20 off?
Really, 3 dolls so close together was a lot. I like 1 doll a year for Christmas or a birthday. It does seem more special then.

Don't look at me!! Remember you're talking to the one who bought TEN dolls from ebay in one year, not to mention 5 fixer-uppers (4 of them yet to list on ebay)!!
So I must echo the sentiment, "Willpower?...what's willpower?"

When my Dd was collecting, it was one or two per year. Now that DD's grown, and I'm collecting...I just buy. I have a problem.

After a wait of 14 years, I finally got my forst doll this year... Marisol, and then got a PM Felicity. I had bought Elizabeth, but wasn't able to bond with her and sent her back as a trade for clothes for Marisol.
I also bought and sold and extra PM Felicity and also have what appears to be a PM AGT#3 on ebay because I wanted the 1995 outfit.
I also have an extra Marisol, and want Nellie for Christmas/B-day.
So the total since my trip the AGPNY stands at:
Marisol x2
PM Felicity x2 (-1 sold)
PM AGT #3
Elizabeth ( -1 sent back)
Yup.. 6 dolls in 6 months.
The bad part is that I also bought my niece an AGT #21 for Xmas early because she kept asking to borrow Marisol and now she's wanting a Bitty Baby. So since I really wanted the #21 who looks like my niece, and I really wanted to wait and take her to AGP to buy her first one... I'm now battling the $$ need to send the #21 and Coconut back in exchange for a Bitty Baby starter collection, and the desire to keep her for myself.
They are sooooo addictive!

Yes, they are! I never thought I would get this attached/addicted to them... I thought " oh what is one more" then after the 6-7th time of saying that I knew I had a problem!

I usually get one a year mostly due to money reasons. Otherwise I would definitely get more! Right now I really want AGT 21, Kit, Addy, and AGT 23. I'm hoping to get AGT 21 for my birthday in December.

wrxgirl, AG IS very addicting, but no more so than any other fun hobby. Enjoy! I love reading about your growing collection!
Over the years I have found that when I start accumulating too many things I like at once, I get in accumulation mode rather than collector mode, and I don't enjoy or appreciate our collection as much. This happened after code frenzy early this year when I went way overboard on AG! Yikes. I think we have Christmas and birthdays pretty well covered for some time. So I am not the role model for self-restraint, but you know what I mean, LOL!!!!
also edited to add that I didn't buy AG until 2003, even though I had been wanting to buy myself the historicals since the early 90's after I returned home from school. Those were some lean years, I tell you. So it was a long wait for me, but totally worth it.

Anyone here set a limit on how many dolls they purchase within a year? Just in this past month I cant even count on one hand how many dolls I have bought! :/ I am beginning to think that maybe holding off and getting one every 6 months or something may make them seem more special to me or something? I dont know.... I feel maybe its overly excessive... but I cant help it when I see a new cute face staring at me... I gotta have her!
Those of you that do only get 1 every once and awhile, besides money being a factor, how do you have the willpower?

Ha ha...money IS the only factor for me. I have no willpower! Back when I was still in college I had tons of student loan money that I used all for dolls, and I acquired them pretty quickly. Probably one every month or two. Now that I am graduated and paying back that student loan money, I am dirt poor. Otherwise, #25, #24, #23, and #22 would be mine by now... Yeah, my student loan money went on bills.... I took a year off from working so I could focus on my schooling.... my brother on the other hand just used all his loan money up buying wheels and rims for his car!!! :/
I am supposed to be saving for a house but I have no willpower!!!! LOL
Kinda sad, isnt it?
